Privacy policy
Product: ProseBop, a Google Docs™ add-on. Provider: Dusty H Mingus ("we"). Last updated: October 14, 2026
This policy explains what ProseBop accesses, how it uses that data, what it stores, and who it shares anything with. We kept the product small on purpose, so there is not much to disclose.
The short version
- The ProseBop editor is a window that opens inside Google Docs. It works only on the text you paste into that window. It does not read or change your document.
- The text you paste is analyzed by ProseBop's code, which runs on Google's Apps Script service under your Google account. We run no server of our own, so your text is never sent to us, to Gumroad, or to anyone else, and no person at our company can read it.
- The only information that leaves Google is your license key and our product ID, sent to Gumroad to confirm your license. Nothing is sent if you use the free Lite version without a key.
- We do not sell data, show ads, run analytics, or use your text to train any model. ProseBop uses no AI or machine-learning model of any kind.
Data access: what ProseBop accesses
When you install ProseBop you approve three permissions:
- Access to the current document only (documents.currentonly). This permission lets ProseBop add its menu to the document and open its window there. ProseBop's code does not read your document's content and does not change it. It cannot open your other files in Google Drive.
- Showing its menu and window inside Google Docs (script.container.ui).
- Connecting to an external service (script.external_request). This is used only to check your license key with Gumroad. It is not used in Lite.
ProseBop does not access your email, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data.
Data use: how the data is used
The text you paste into the editor is processed by ProseBop's code to find flags, and the flags are returned to the editor window in your browser. The text is used only to provide those user-facing features. It is not saved, logged, or kept after the analysis returns. The editor does not change your document. You copy the edited text back yourself.
What is stored, and where
ProseBop stores one small set of data in storage that Google provides to add-ons. We cannot read this storage.
| Data | Where | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Your license key, whether it is valid, when it was last checked, and when the last check was tried | Your Google account's storage for this add-on | To keep you activated across documents without asking for the key again |
The pasted text, the flags, your points, and anything you ignore live only in the editor window while it is open. They are gone when you close it. Your browser may keep a copy of the window as it does for any open page, which is outside ProseBop's control.
Data transfer: what is shared, and with whom
- Gumroad. When you activate or use the full version, ProseBop sends your license key and our product ID to Gumroad to confirm that the license is valid, not refunded, and within its activation limit. These requests come from Google's servers over HTTPS. Gumroad keeps a count of how many times a key has been activated. Gumroad also processes your payment and holds your purchase records under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Information we receive from Gumroad. As the seller, we receive your name, email address, and purchase details so that we can provide your license, support you, and handle refunds.
- Google. ProseBop runs on Google's Apps Script platform, and Google's own privacy policy applies to that platform.
We share nothing else with anyone. We do not sell personal information, and we do not give document content to anyone, because we never receive it. No Google user data is transferred to third parties, to advertisers, or to any AI or machine-learning service.
Data protection: how it is secured
Your text is handled inside your own Google account, so it is protected by Google's own security. The license key is held in Google's add-on storage for your account, and the only request that leaves Google is sent over HTTPS to Gumroad. We have no database of our own and no access to your text, so there is no copy of it on our systems to protect.
Data retention and deletion
Pasted text is not retained. Your license key stays in your account's add-on storage until you remove ProseBop's access in your Google Account, which deletes it, or until you ask us to help. Purchase and support records we receive from Gumroad and by email are kept for as long as needed to provide support and handle refunds, and we delete them on request.
Limited Use and AI
The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. ProseBop does not use Google user data to develop, improve or train AI or machine-learning models, does not transfer that data to any third party, and does not allow humans to read it.
This website
This website is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or trackers. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and reliability. The demonstration on the home page runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
Support
If you email us, we keep the correspondence to help you. Google's Apps Script service may record technical error messages for us to review. Our code does not write your text into those records.
Your choices
You can stop using ProseBop or revoke its access in your Google Account at any time. To ask about, correct, or delete the purchase or support information we hold about you, email support@prosebop.com. We reply within 30 days.
Children
ProseBop is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change what ProseBop accesses, stores, or shares, we will update this page and the date above first. Material changes will also be noted in the add-on.
