A line editor for Google Docs™
Thorough line editing, made fun. No AI.
You write every fix.
ProseBop highlights the words, phrases and sentences worth a second look, tells you what each one is and how to fix it, and never rewrites a thing. Your eyes stay on the page and the momentum stays with you.

Try the editor right here. Seven flags are hiding in this paragraph. Click a highlight, read the fix, pick an edit, then press BOP.
How it works
Three moves, then back to your draft
Paste a scene
Open ProseBop from the Extensions menu in Google Docs. Paste the passage you want to work on into its window. Every flag is highlighted the moment it lands.
Click, read, edit
Click any highlight. The box tells you what it is, how to fix it, why it was flagged, and when to leave it alone. Then you write the fix. ProseBop never does it for you.
BOP and paste back
Press BOP to bank your points and watch the counter climb. When the flags are gone, copy the text back into your document. Your document is never touched by the editor.
What it flags
Eight categories, one color each
Each color is a kind of line-level problem. Every flag names the exact editing task, with separate guidance for dialogue and for narration. No rule is absolute, so every box also tells you when to keep the line.
- Modifiers beside nounsDescriptive words that label instead of show.
- Repeats, stock phrases and AI-sounding languageRepeated words, doubled meanings, about 1,200 stock phrases, and shapes readers now associate with machine writing.
- Sentence-level problemsTelling, tangled and looping sentences, chains of joins, fragments.
- Dialogue tagsTags and attributions that do work the line should do.
- Action frozen in nounsVerbs that have been turned into nouns.
- Weak and passive verbsBe-verbs, hidden actors, and verbs that describe instead of act.
- Adverbs on weak verbs and degree wordsIntensifiers and adverbs that prop up a limp verb.
- Adverbs on strong verbs and direction wordsFrequency and direction words riding on verbs that already act.
Why no AI
The edit is the craft. Keep it yours.
A tool that rewrites your sentences hands you someone else's voice and takes you out of the draft. ProseBop does the opposite. It spots the line, explains the problem, and steps back. You decide whether the flag is a mistake or a choice, and you write every word that replaces it.
It uses no AI model of any kind, and nothing you write is used to train one. The points counter, the milestones and the celebrations are there for one reason: line editing is long, careful work, and it goes better when it feels like progress.

Your writing stays yours
The editor works on the text you paste into it and nothing else. It does not read or change your document, and we run no server that receives your text. The only thing that leaves Google is your license key and our product ID, which are checked with Gumroad. Lite sends nothing at all. Read the privacy policy.
